CL Playoffs?

Discussion in the Ask the Commish forum
CL Playoffs?
I am confused with the Central League playoffs. I know Chunichi needs to win one more game to be guaranteed a playoff spot. When will their playoff series start and around when do the playoffs end?

The confusion is caused by the fact that the Central League doesn't have a playoff system. The Pacific League started a playoff system three years ago in hopes of attracting more attention at the end of the season - and the last two playoffs have been outstanding.

The Central League is planning on starting a similar playoff system in 2007.

What Chunichi is one game away from clinching is the Central League Pennant. With one more win (or Hanshin loss), Chunichi will earn the right to face the winner of the Pacific League playoffs in the Nippon Series (aka Japan Series). The Nippon Series will be held October 21 - 29.

The winner of the Nippon Series will then go on to face champions from Taiwan (CPBL), Korea (KBO), and an all star team from China (CBL) in the Konami Cup Asian Series between November 9 - 12. The Chiba Lotte Marines were unstoppable last year. I expect both the Korean and Taiwanese champions to be more competitive this year.

Which teams do you think might win the CPBL and KBO this year?
