There is a three way tie for first place with about 6-7 games left for each team. The top four teams make the playoffs.
The only screwy thing the Central League has done to try to shake the final standings around a bit was introduce a system whereby the team with the most wins took first place a couple of years ago, as opposed to the highest winning percentage. Because ties are allowed, it was possible for one team to have taken the league with a lower winning percentage. I think (memory fails me right now) that if there was such a case where the team with the highest winning percentage didn't have the most wins, that there would be a one game playoff.
This is a site about Pro Yakyu (Japanese Baseball), not about who the next player to go over to MLB is. It's a community of Pro Yakyu fans who have come together to share their knowledge and opinions with the world. It's a place to follow teams and individuals playing baseball in Japan (and Asia), and to learn about Japanese (and Asian) culture through baseball.
It is my sincere hope that once you learn a bit about what we're about here that you will join the community of contributors.
