Boca buries Swallows with grand slam

Hiram Bocachica smoked a grand slam and Hideaki Wakui went the distance Wednesday night as the Seibu Lions routed the Yakult Swallows 8-1 in an interleague matchup at Seibu Dome.

Seibu right-hander Wakui improved to 6-2 on the season. He allowed just one run on five hits through nine innings. Wakui struck out nine and walked a pair.

Bocachica went deep in the fourth inning off Yakult starter Masao Kida (3-3), driving a 3-and-2 breaking ball over the wall in left one batter after Kida hit Ginjiro Sumitani with a pitch to load the bases. The home run was Bocachica"s 12th of the season and Takuya Kuriyama chipped in with a solo shot in the fifth for the Lions.
