The first batting lineup

The new batting lineup has now been announced.

1. Murton (Centre
2, Hirano (Second)
3. Toritani (Short)
4. Kanemoto (Left)
5. Arai (Third)
6. Johjima (Catcher)
7. Brazell (First)
8. Sakurai (Right)

No place for Sekimoto yet though he would have added power in place of Hirano. But Tigers do have Murton for that role and need speed in the top of the order and Hirano fulfills that role nicely. Apart from Toritani, the clean up has a lot to prove, Kanemoto that he's still got it in him and Arai that he can finally live up to his potential. The latter's Tigers Mokku DVD has just been released and the accompanying magazine contains a caption saying It's make or break, time to show you're a true Tiger which sums it up nicely. Brazell is now at seven which may be a mistake. A better location would be part of the clean up and maybe this will happen if Kanemoto or Arai fail. The bottom three of the line up show a lot of power and should produce a lot of runs. Having Sakurai at eight is a nice move and means that opposition pitchers cannot relax.
