At a recent even Tigers Old Boy shared his thoughts on what Tigers should do next season. Several suggestions were interesting so here they are;

Kakefu thought that Arai and Brazell should be competing for first base, I'm mot sure I agree with that. These are Tigers two most prolific RBI producers. To have just one in the team at one time is to reduce your offensive capacity. Both together increase your chances.

Johjima should bat down the order at No.7 to take the pressure off him. Once again I'm not sure about this. If he's fit Johjima has the potential to drive in a lot of runs. He needs to be in a position where he gets the chance to do so.

Kanemoto should think about retiring. That I can agree with - making way for a younger player and going out on top would be a good thing for the team and Kanemoto. A slow decline would not be so good.

Itoh, the first round draft pick should be used straight away. That might be a good move. Getting a younger player into the lineup quickly has always been an issue for the Tigers. In this respect they have been very conservative.

So some very good suggestions, some not so good ones. It will be interesting to see Wada's lineup.

Also, from what I've seen of Arai at first (which admittedly isn't much) I don't think he's as good as Brazell. I don't think the big man gets enough credit for his fielding at first, he's very solid.
