Tigers starting rotation for the season has been finalized. It goes

1. Messenger
2. Iwata
3. Fujinami
4. Nohmi
5. Standridge
6. Enokida

Enokida did well enough to earn a place on the rotation for his first season as starter.

Is this the projected order as well? Or just the pitchers named starters?

Yes it is the projected order at the moment.

Will be interesting to see how Enokida fares as a starter. A bit surprising, considering how much they have overused him as a reliever already.
What's up with Akiyama? Is he still battling injuries? Or the Tigers pattern of taking 10 years to earn a rotation spot? Although Fujinami has made fast progress...
Anyway, I think our hitting will improve this year, so hopefully the starting pitching will stay strong as well. My concern this year is the bullpen.

Akiyama didn't do well at all in open sen (likewise Kojima) so it was decided to start them in ni-gun. Enokida's last start in Open Sen was considered rather good and he earned his place in the rotation on the strength of this. I agree with you about the bullpen and from what I can see Tigers haven't the coaching talent to do anything about this problem. I would have been happier if they had had the intelligence to retain Yabu as pitchiing coach.

With a solid set-up guy (Enokida) moving to the rotation and our closer (Kyuju) moving to MLB, there are some gaps to fill. Is Kubo still projected as the new closer?

Kubo is currently due to be the closer though with the mess Hidaka and Fujii seem to be making calling (though the latter isn't doing too badly with the starters) this has to be up in the air.
