Hot from the horse's mouth as it were team president Minami confirmed that Tigers front office were thinking of offering Wada a contract for the 2015 season. His reasoning - managers were not something that should be changed easily. Of course one has always known that Minami is not really with it but this kind of feeble reasoning does take one's breath away.

2012: no CS
2013: humiliation in the first round of CS
2014: not yet determined, but performance bounces between 'embarassingly bad' and 'maybe we'll sneak into CS'
yeah, things look fine.

is hanshin management normally this fickle? only last week, wada's job was on the line. starting off the 'must win' nine-game series with three embarassements (and stinging new records), then going 3-2 combined against #2 (with another record-setting home loss, no less) and the central's current basement-dweller is not exactly a confidence-inspiring display for someone in the hot seat.

It isn't fickleness but rewarding mediocrity. If the previous manager Mayumi had managed to reach the policy requirements of the front office he would have been offered a new contract. Gutlessness and a total disdain for the fans also plays a part. The front office is not chosen for: a) their knowledge of baseball; and b) their knowledge of management in any form. Basically, it's Buggin's turn rules and this is why you get such incredibly stupid decisions being made.

Strong rumours are circulating that Okada may well be invited back for the next season. This would be a welcome change though Okada wasn't exactly a brilliant manager he would have delivered the pennant with this team.

Okada coming back? How sweet it is. I told you that you would miss him and sure enough Wada has caused you to call for his return.
