Hiroshima Signs New Foreign Pitcher

Discussion in the NPB News forum
Hiroshima Signs New Foreign Pitcher
The Hiroshima Carp have signed a 25 year old right handed pitcher from their Carp Dominican Baseball Academy, Victor Marte. According to the report, Marte boasts around a 150kph fastball, as well as a knuckleball. Marte began practicing with the team during practice camps, and apparently caught manager Marty Brown's eye during the Autumn camp this year. [Original article from Web Hochi (in Japanese)]

This guy sounds pretty interesting. Are there a lot of knuckleballers pitching in NPB?

I am pretty sure he does not throw a knuckleball.

Apparently he does, in fact, throw an unconventional knuckleball, among many other pitches.

Katoh (Orix) and Maeda (Giants) throw knuckleballs.
