Diaz is a righty who had problems in AAA Charlotte last season (HR friendly park). He has pretty good stuff. Low-to-mid 90s fastball and a good change up. His breaking pitches haven't improved in his time in the minors. He had been surpassed by a couple starters in the White Sox system, and they have 6 quality ML starters now.

Diaz went 2-5 with a 6.75 ERA with the White Sox in 18 games.

Sorry, Diaz didn't play in majors last year. Meant to say Diaz went 2-5 with a 6.75 ERA in 2004.

The Carp lost Diaz at the last minute. He is not joining the Carp, rather deciding on other options including another offer in Japan.

According to Nikkan Sports a Felix Diaz has signed with Nippon Ham. I don't know whether it's the same Diaz though, as nothing was mentioned in the article about previous negotiations with the Carp.

It is the same Diaz! Apparently negotiations with Carp fell apart at the last minute and Nippon Ham jumped on him as he was pitching lights-out in the Dominican Winter League playoffs.

It's the same Diaz, he signed a one year contract worth 50 million (5,000-man) yen. [Full Japan Ball Story]

He will be a great asset for the team. He is a great player. Everyone has their good days and bad. Sometimes you get injured. It is one of the risks of playing sports.
