Wes Obermueller
I read that Orix signed Wes Obermueller SP/RP from the Atlanta Braves. Any thoughts?

From what I heard they're still in the process of acquiring him. Obermuller is shaky with his control, but if he can work on that he could be helpful out of the rotation or bullpen.

Doesn't seem like a likely candidate for suddenly improved performance in Japan. He wasn't even that good in the minors.

He's, at best, a middle relief guy. I remember him being a big tease with the Brewers...lots of potential, but none of it realized because of continued control issues.

He was released today by Atlanta. This could lead to his signing.

The Buffaloes have indeed signed Obermueller. This season the 30 year old right hander was 0-2 with a 2.45 ERA in 2 starts for the Richmond Braves of the Triple-A International League. In 2005 with the Milwaukee Brewers Obermueller was 1-4 with a 5.26 ERA in 23 games.

All things considered, Obermueller did a pretty good job. Five innings, three hits, six strikeouts, and no runs. He did walk four, but for just getting off the plane, not bad.

For your info, Wes is only 29.

You know nothing about Wes, he beat Houston when he threw one of his first games in the big leagues. If he would have had an offense behind him he would have had at least a .500 record.

Wes is an all around pitcher. He is a good asset to any team he is on. Good luck Wes, Get after em!

Now I've seen his control problems. I can see why others were so frustrated with him. He was horrible today. He couldn't get out of the first inning with 2 walks, a hit batter, double, single, and a sac. fly.
