Kanemoto Ties Ripken's Consecutive Inning Record
Hanshin Tigers outfielder Tomoaki Kanemoto tied Baltimore Orioles great Cal Ripken Jr's record of consecutive 903 games without missing a inning.

Hiroshima Carp great Sachio Kinguasa who held the former world record of consecutive games(2,215) until Ripken broke that in 1996 said:

"I'm sure Kanemoto has kept streching the record under tremendous pressure. But his effort has paid off because so many people are happy about this record"

Kanemoto broke Ripken's streak, with his 904th consecutive game without missing a inning.

A congratulatory message from Orioles great Cal Ripken Jr. was played on the electronic scoreboard at the Osaka Dome, and was given a bat by the former Oriole.

The bat was written with a hand message which said: "Congratulations, keep playing."

Yes indeed, a very classy move by Ripken. Which is one of the reasons I got into baseball in the first place. Ripken is one of most classiest people inolved with baseball. I must say I'm extremly grateful to experienced Ripken and even meet him in person.

Here's the story along with the photo of Ripken up on the Koshien scoreboard.

I have no clue why I said Koshien when it was at Osaka.

Wonderful to see that Kanemoto has kept this up. I had no idea of the streak when I almost saw it ended last year at Koshien. Aniki was hit in the head by a cowardly Hawks pitcher and stayed on the ground for quite a while before barely being able to get to his feet. Amazing that he stayed in that game and so many more after that!
