Matsuzaka Chalks Up First Seibu Win
The Seibu Lions have been struggling through the pre-season with an 0 and 7 (2 ties) record going into Saturday's game at Yokohama. Going back to losing four in a row in the Nihon Series last October, their losing streak was at 11 games.

But Matsuzaka made it clear why he's to be the Lions' opening day pitcher a fouth year in a row. He pitched to just one batter over the minimum for five innings, allowing a lead-off base hit in the first and a lead-off walk in the third as the only two Yokohama base runners. Where he was most impressive though was Matsuzaka's cranking out eight K's, including Cox, Woods, Furuki, and Murata in order before hitting the showers.

For Yokohama, this marks their fifth loss in a row on their new FieldTurf. The only bright spot was that they didn't commit any errors, which seem to have been plaguing them in their renovated Yokohama Stadium.
About

This is a site about Pro Yakyu (Japanese Baseball), not about who the next player to go over to MLB is. It's a community of Pro Yakyu fans who have come together to share their knowledge and opinions with the world. It's a place to follow teams and individuals playing baseball in Japan (and Asia), and to learn about Japanese (and Asian) culture through baseball.

It is my sincere hope that once you learn a bit about what we're about here that you will join the community of contributors.
