Matt Watson to Lotte

Discussion in the NPB News forum
Matt Watson to Lotte
Matt Watson signed a contract with the Chiba Lotte Marines on Saturday and will be placed on waivers by the Oakland A's today.

Once Watson passes through waivers, provided another MLB team does not claim Watson in the next 48 hours and buy out Chiba Lotte, Watson will be on his way to Japan by the end of the week.

Really? On CBS Sportsline it says that he's going to be heading to the Chiba Lotte Marines. (buymeabeer pounds his head on the desk repeatedly.) ... Americans.

For those of you who didn't understand that, there was a mistake put in which was understandably corrected. However, to correct the correction of an error (follow that?), CBS Sportsline said that he was heading to the Chiba Lotte Mariners, not the Chiba Lotte Marines. That extra 'R' makes all the difference.

Thanks for clarifying that. It was very confusing. I had double checked that the original post didn't say Mariners, but didn't check CBS Sportsline for what they wrote. A URL to the article causing your desk to attack would have been useful.

The A's have indeed sold Watson to the Chiba Lotte Marines. The A's website has a press release up for it now.
