Ex-Hanshin OF Now into NASCAR

Discussion in the NPB News forum
Ex-Hanshin OF Now into NASCAR
This is an article about former Hanshin Tigers outfielder Mike Greenwell's upcoming NASCAR debut. The article says he retired after the 1996 season, which is technically correct since Greenwell just mailed it in during his stint with Hanshin in 1997.

Greenwell will go down in NPB history as being one of the worst foreign player signings along with Joe Pepitone and Kevin Mitchell in terms of production for the amount of money they made.

Yes, although it's important to note that Greenwell and Hanshin reached a settlement on the amount of money he made off of them. His salary for a whole year would have been $3 million, but I understand he got a whole lot less than that.
