This is a site about Pro Yakyu (Japanese Baseball), not about who the next player to go over to MLB is. It's a community of Pro Yakyu fans who have come together to share their knowledge and opinions with the world. It's a place to follow teams and individuals playing baseball in Japan (and Asia), and to learn about Japanese (and Asian) culture through baseball.
It is my sincere hope that once you learn a bit about what we're about here that you will join the community of contributors.

When Nishi joined the Giants in 1996, he struck me as being very much what the Giants weren't - small and scrappy. A "guts" player. (Gotoh and Shimizu were a couple others that didn't fit the usual Giants mold that I really liked.)
For the BayStars, hopefully they can get a handle on the second base position. For the past few seasons it's been Taneda, Uchikawa, and others going in and out of the position, with no solid decision to stick with one. While I've been hoping that Uchikawa would finally take the spot for good, Fujita has also shown promise there. Yano-kantoku thinks that Nishi will be able to turn two more often than the parade of second basemen have been able to do the past couple of years.
On Odajima's part, he's heading to a team with fierce competition at any spot, especially catcher (Abe) and first base (Lee). Abe has been suffering from injuries the past few years, so catcher may be the most likely spot for him to finally break out of ni-gun at. But it won't be easy for him.
