Ryan Vogelson for the Tigers?

Ryan Vogelson for the Tigers?
Saw this today in the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review:
Right-hander Ryan Vogelsong is set to sign a contract with the Hashin Tigers, according to the Japan Times. Vogelsong, who was part of the Jason Schmidt trade in 2001, pitched in 20 games for the Pirates and 11 for Class AAA Indianapolis last season.
Any thoughts on Vogelsong?

Vogelsong was once a top prospect of the Giants who was traded in the Jason Schmidt deal in 2001. Since then he has struggled.

It is quite possible he could become a useful starter, but I think the departed Chris Oxspring is a better option than Vogelsong. A concern of Vogelsong in his major league career was his walks. Though at AAA Indianapolis, he went 4-5 with a 2.66 ERA in 11 games/10 starts. [Minor League Stats -Minor League Baseball]

Oxspring struggled badly with pitch count and control. He was also unable to make the transition to set-up either. I hope Vogelsong will become a useful starter in the lineup, but my main worry is Fukuhara, not Vogelsong.
