Green To Japan

Discussion in the NPB News forum
Green To Japan
Arizona Diamondbacks infielder, Andy Green [MLB.com - Player Profile] was sold to the Nippon Ham Fighters [MLB.com]. What the Fighters paid for Green is unknown. Green still needs to pass major league waivers, but unlike in the case of Kevin Millar, it is pretty certain Green should pass waivers.

It is expected that Green will fill the hole left by the departed Michihiro Ogasawara. While, Green will come nowhere close to the numbers of Ogasawara, it is very unlikely anyone will. If Green can return to the numbers when he won the PCL MVP in 2005 (.343/.422/.587, 19 HRs, 80 RBI) he will be a productive player with the Fighters.

Still, the Fighters need Inaba to continue to hit like he did this past year and for Seguignol to continue to hit like he has. Also, Darvish and Yagi should continue to shine. Nonetheless, I find it hard to see the Fighters repeat as PL Champions. I could be wrong, but I'm leaning against it.

Green batted .199/.280/.265 with 2 HRs and 12 RBI in 3 years with the Diamondbacks.
About

This is a site about Pro Yakyu (Japanese Baseball), not about who the next player to go over to MLB is. It's a community of Pro Yakyu fans who have come together to share their knowledge and opinions with the world. It's a place to follow teams and individuals playing baseball in Japan (and Asia), and to learn about Japanese (and Asian) culture through baseball.

It is my sincere hope that once you learn a bit about what we're about here that you will join the community of contributors.
