This is a site about Pro Yakyu (Japanese Baseball), not about who the next player to go over to MLB is. It's a community of Pro Yakyu fans who have come together to share their knowledge and opinions with the world. It's a place to follow teams and individuals playing baseball in Japan (and Asia), and to learn about Japanese (and Asian) culture through baseball.
It is my sincere hope that once you learn a bit about what we're about here that you will join the community of contributors.

For Hanshin, they entered the month and soon reduced their Magic number to a single digit, riding a 7 game winning streak between August 27 and September 3. The current (as of end of play on September 5) standings are: Interstingly enough, Hanshin's magic number isn't tied to the second, third, or fourth place teams. Fifth place Hiroshima, with 30 games remaining, has the best mathematical chance of catching the Tigers.
(Personally, I'm more concerned with Yokohama's magic number of 6 - the number of wins they need to prevent triple digit losses.)
Hanshin's earliest possible doage (clinch) is now September 9. That's more than a month and a half before the Series.
Jumping over to the Pacific League, Daiei's magic number is currently 16. They've been up and down the past month, having their magic light up and fade away. Yet they've held on to the top spot, using Seibu and Kintetsu to keep each other in check. Current standings (top three) in the Pacific League are: As you can see, the race is much closer. Still, Daiei's closest V-Day is less than a week later than Hanshin's, September 14.
