Pro Yakyu Live! June 6, 2007
As the unrepresented Seibu and Yakult are not available this evening, we've got a choice of three games:
  • Chunichi (Ogasawara 4-0) vs. Orix (Davey 3-5)
  • Yokohama (Kudoh 1-4) vs. SoftBank (Arakaki 5-3)
  • Hiroshima (Aoki 1-6) vs. Nippon Ham (Kinoshita 1-0)
If you don't cast a vote for one of the above games, this is the order I'll go by.

The reason for putting the Chunichi-Orix game on top is to see the May pitching MVP Ogasawara throw.

Tune in tonight at around 6:00 pm JST for Pro Yakyu Live!

You have the Hiroshima and Nippon Ham starters backwards, but that's OK.

I am all for cheering for the Ogasawara that is not the clean-shaven doppleganger.

Did the server go down or something? I yelled "STOP TALKING ABOUT THE RED SOX D***IT" at my computer and next thing I knew I couldn't connect to the broadcast anymore.

It's OK, it meant I tuned into the Rakuten-Hanshin Internet game broadcast instead, just in time to see Takeshi Yamasaki hit another home run! Wheeee. And Masahiro Tanaka looks good so far.

Yeah, we had technical difficulties. And the reason why I talked about the Red Sox is that they are the best team in baseball right now, record-wise, not to mention that they're my hometown team. I wouldn't talk about the Red Sox if I didn't have so much material about Kosuke Fukudome possibly going to Boston, and Daisuke Matsuzaka started last night.

Besides, I really didn't talk about them that much, it's not like every last time I talked was about them. I was too angry at them to really say much more, and I didn't say a word about them until the MLB scores from the previous night. Patience, grasshopper.

Yeah, but see, I don't tune in to a Chunichi-Orix game to hear about the Red Sox, I tune in to hear about the Dragons. And when I say about the Dragons, I don't mean about "Why Kosuke Fukudome will look good in my outfield next year." I mean "Why Masahiko Morino is awesome," or "Why I fear Tyrone Woods," or "Hirokazu Ibata may be the most underrated shortstop ever."

(No, I don't really tune in to hear about the Buffaloes, before you ask, heh.)

So, maybe I just tuned in at an inopportune time (and I haven't listened to the rest of it). I wasn't able to get the broadcast from here to work again once it went down, so maybe I jinxed Takashi Ogasawara. Oops. On the other hand, I fell asleep listening to the Eagles game and they did really well, winning 11-1, and Tanaka even got 8 strikeouts!

Yes, I had some server problems, but not on the site, at home. My router has been overheating a bit lately. I have a replacement, just haven't had the time to set it up.

In the mean time, Ogasawara looks like he hit the Monthly MVP Jinx. He failed to complete the 4th, and was tagged for the loss. Chunichi's relief corp did the job of keeping the game close, but their offense was unable to produce more than the two runs off of Morino's 4th inning two run home run.

I had a guest commentator on (as Deanna noticed), Jim Nelson joining me from Boston.

You can download the full game [45MB MP3] for full details. Enjoy.
