Hanshin to Release Irabu after 2004
SanSpo reported today that Hideki Irabu had returned from LA, where he underwent examinations and rehab for his knee injury, and quoted him as saying he wanted to return to the playing field and contribute to Hanshin as soon as possible. However, said SanSpo, he does not figure in team strategies at this time, and the club may let him go after this season.

Can't say I'd be disappointed. Maybe if he took better care of himself, he could of prolonged his career. He was in poor condition at the start of the season and was looking exhausted by the 2nd or 3rd inning of his outings.

He was "dead-wood" all season. I think all Tigers' fans can breathe a collective sigh of relief.
