Rakuten's Mascot

Discussion in the NPB News forum
Rakuten's Mascot
Apparently the Rakuten Eagles new mascot's name is "Clutch" and his companion is "Clutchina" (?). While reading the katakana from the news, I could not figure out what it was, because "kurattchi" could be "clutch," "crutch," or even . . . "crotch."

With the standard two mascot setup, they still have a lot more to go if they want to equal the number of Hawks' mascots (Harry, Herculy, Honey, Homer, Helen, Hack, Rick, Hock, and not to mention the several guest appearances by the comic book character Iwaki), the applications are probably pouring in.

The Eagles are also taking applications for stadium MCs and DJs for those seeking work in the Sendai area.
About

This is a site about Pro Yakyu (Japanese Baseball), not about who the next player to go over to MLB is. It's a community of Pro Yakyu fans who have come together to share their knowledge and opinions with the world. It's a place to follow teams and individuals playing baseball in Japan (and Asia), and to learn about Japanese (and Asian) culture through baseball.

It is my sincere hope that once you learn a bit about what we're about here that you will join the community of contributors.
