Tigers opening day roster

Tigers opening day roster
Tigers have posted who will be in the opening day roster and yes Johjima makes it as one of three catchers contrary to reports in Sponichi. Komiyama was scheduled to be starting catcher but currently has a fever and is day to day so we may see Fujii on opening day. Komiyama is currently day to day. Itoh has also made it - the first rookie outfielder since Minoru Murata in 1972. Without further ado here is the list

Pitchers

12. Ryo Watanabe
13. Daiki Enokida
14. Atsushi Nohmi
15. Masanori Fujihara
16. Yuya Andoh
20. Kazuya Tsutsui
22. Kyuji Fujikawa
28. Shinobu Fukuhara
46. Naoto Tsuru
55. Jason Standridge

Catchers

2. Kenji Johjima
39. Shinji Komiyama
50. Akihito Fujii

Infielders

0. Yamato
1. Takahashi Toritani
3. Kenataro Sekimoto
5. Keiichi Hirano
25. Takahiro Arai
32. Ryota Arai
38. Haruki Kurose
67. Craig Brazell

Outfielders

00. Kohei Shibata
6. Tomoaki Kanemoto
7. Shusuke
8. Ryo Asai
24. Shinjiro Hiyama
51. Hayata Itoh

Of course pitchers will change and the fact that you don't see Messenger on the roster isn't significant.

Do you know if the rotation has been set yet? Was just curious about that. Curious about the line-up too, but I'll find at tomorrow at Kyocera. Will be interesting to see how they juggle things without Murton available.

Confirmed are Nohmi, Messenger, Standridge, Andoh and Iwata. The sixth place is up for grabs and currently seems to be between Kobayashi and Kubo. Kubo has been a bit unhealthy recently.

Are there two Ryota Arais on the team (32 infielder and 8 outfielder)? Why isn't Lin on this roster?

Thanks for that - entry corrected.

As far as Wada is concerned Lin didn't perform well enough to make the opening day roster.

Another year, another manager deciding Lin didn't perform well enough to make the team. Last I looked, Kanemoto was batting .192. I guess that's good enough.

Gotta wonder if Lin would have cashed that runner at third in the tenth. He's built for situations exactly like that.

I seem to remember Lin performing well in Kyocera Dome, but unfortunately can't help us when he's not on the roster. All I can say is I really wish we would have had Lin as an option rather than Shunsuke yesterday!
