Saito leads Japan past U.S. team
Waseda University freshman Yuki Saito gave up just one run and two hits in six innings as Japan edged the United States 2-1 in Game 3 of their collegiate all-star series Friday. Saito struck out three and walked three in an 89-pitch outing before Tomoyuki Kaida and Shinya Muramatsu combined to shut down the Americans in the final three innings at Durham Bulls Athletic Park. Japan took a 2-1 lead in the five-game series.
