Kinjyoh: Two HRs from Both Sides in August
Yokohama's Kinjyoh Tatsuhiko, who hasn't hit more than three home runs in a season, became the first Central League player to hit two home runs from both sides of the plate in a single season. What's more, he hit them both in the same month, just three days apart. Fernando Seguignol (Orix) was the first player to hit home runs in two game in the same month when he did so on consecutive days (May 5 and 6) last season (2002). Seguignol hit home runs from both sides a total of three times in 2002, the only player to have done so.

Kinjyoh became the fifth player to hit home runs from both sides of the plate twice or more in a season. The other four were:

After winning the Batting Title and Rookie of the Year in 2000, Kinjyoh had been a bit of a disappointment the past couple of years. But he has reemerged as the team's leading hitter, batting .323 (6th in the league) and has 13 home runs so far on the season.

Wow, there really haven't been a lot of switch-hitters in NPB history, have there?
