Kanemoto Ties Series Records

With Kanemoto's four home runs this Series, he has tied three home run records.

The first record tied is hitting four home runs in a single Nippon Series. This was accomplished by Oh, Nagashima (twice), Akiyama, Kiyohara, and current rival team member Johjima (to name those that most of you will know), as well as three others.

The second record tied is hitting home runs in three consecutive games. Kanemoto hit one out in the 4th inning of Game 3, the 6th and 10th innings of Game 4, and the first inning of Game 5. The three others were Nakanishi (Nishitetsu) in 1958 against the Giants, Bass (Hanshin) in 1985 against Seibu, and Johjima (Daiei) in 2000 against the Giants. Kanemoto is the first player to hit a home run in three consecutive games at the same stadium.

Finally, Kanemoto hit home runs in three consecutive at bats, starting in the 6th inning of Game 4, he walked of the 8th (not an official at bat), hit the sayonara home run to end the game in the 10th, then hit a solo shot in the top of the first inning of Game 5. The only other player to have hit three consecutive home runs in the Nippon Series was Nagashima, hitting one in the 11th inning of Game 3 in 1970, then in the 1st and 3rd innings of Game 4.

I didn't notice any kind of record about it in Nikkan Sports, but Kanemoto has only four hits in the Series so far, all of them solo home runs.
