John Rodriguez?
Does anyone know if John Rodriguez (OF, Cardinals) has signed or will sign with Orix?

He hasn't signed with Orix and it is very unlikely he will as they have Allen, Carter, LaRocca, Davey, and Serafini all locked up for this year leaving no room whatsoever.

I don't understand that. Last year they had Davey, Serafini, Obermueller, Grabowski, Brumbaugh, and Garcia. They had more gaijin last year. I don't think having 5 is the limit. They can add one more. Plus they need a right fielder.

They can add more, but they would have to play at ni-gun as there is a limit at the ichi-gun (top team).

There were talks of it, but those died down with the LaRocca and Allen signings.

Okay, that's true. If I were Orix, I'd rather have Rodriguez than Serafini or even Carter. Orix has good pitching, but no hitting.

No, J-Rod hasn't signed with Orix. He is still on the Cards' 40-man roster as of today.

Some Japanese teams seek players who are out of 25-man roster entering the regular season, so I think there's still a possibility.

I noticed that, but he isn't listed on the Cardinal depth chart on their website. Seems strange.

He mainly platoons for the Redbirds. With all the injuries last year, he got to see a lot of time and even played in the minors for a bit and got to the World Series. He and Taguchi regularly fight for a spot, and with Jolbert Cabrera heading over from Fukuoka, it will be a nice little battle for those outfield positions.
