In Italy there were players like Ayahito Shinada, who played with Kintetsu and in the U.S. minors, too (Elmira), and this year Katsuhiro Maeda (yes, the former Seibu Lion, Yankee, and Chunichi Dragon), Go Ono (a former Giant), and Yasumichi Minami (played in BoSox minors).

This is a site about Pro Yakyu (Japanese Baseball), not about who the next player to go over to MLB is. It's a community of Pro Yakyu fans who have come together to share their knowledge and opinions with the world. It's a place to follow teams and individuals playing baseball in Japan (and Asia), and to learn about Japanese (and Asian) culture through baseball.
It is my sincere hope that once you learn a bit about what we're about here that you will join the community of contributors.

During the 2002 season a pitcher formerly with the Kintetsu Buffaloes by the name of Kida played in Italy.
Tetsuhiro Monna played for Dutch club ADO for three seasons 2000-2002. He is a lefthander who pitched for the Giants from 1993-1999. He played the 2003 season in Croatia and received a Croatian passport to appear in the 2003 European Championships for Croatia.
There have been more Japanese players in Europe, but most of them are shakaijin or university drop-outs. These two are the only former Pro Yakyu players. Obscure enough?
