Is Nippon Ham's Pitching that Good?

Discussion in the Open Talk forum
Is Nippon Ham's Pitching that Good?
Darvish 2.19 ERA, 10-4
Glynn 2.37 ERA, 9-6
Masaru Takeda 2.00 ERA, 7-2
Michael 1.90 ERA, 27 saves!

Are these four strong enough to carry a, to be nice, offense lacking team to first place in Pacific League, and possible Nippon Championship repeat? Let's hear you guys!

Yes, but they'll have to have a bit of luck if they run into the Giants in the Nihon Series. I think the Hawks could beat them in a playoff series, since the Hawks have the rotation and power bats. The bullpen won't matter if the starters go the distance every time. Lotte could also beat Nippon Ham in a playoff series once Julio Zuleta comes back.

You can now update those #'s on Darvish to 2.05 ERA, 11 Wins. Last night, on his 21st birthday, he was en fuego, striking out 10, walking none, pitching 8 shutout innings, while allowing just one hit. I just saw some highlights on TV, but he looked nasty, mixing the fastball with the off-speed stuff brilliantly. He made a couple SoftBank hitters look pretty silly.

I think the adage that pitching wins championships could hold true here, yes.

Four? Are you just counting a few of the starters, or are you forgetting Micheal Nakamura, Hisashi Takeda, and our other middle relief?

Yes, the Fighters' pitching is quite good all around, and that's even without Yagi this year (if you recall, last year the PL playoffs were won on a 1-2 punch by Darvish and Yagi).

And yes, Darvish had quite a good birthday party last night, I think.
