Giants vs. Tigers @ Koshien

Discussion in the Open Talk forum
Giants vs. Tigers @ Koshien
I just managed to score a pair of Giants-Tigers tickets (which are not easy nor cheap to get), only later to realize they are actually seats in the Giants' section at Koshien. Under normal circumstances, the opposing team's section is very small at Koshien, but I am a bit worried about the possible turnout for the Giants. Has anyone been to a Giants game in Koshien, and if so, can you tell me how serious the Giants section is (upper left field reserved)?

As you can tell, I am a Tigers fan, and I know from experience back home that if you are in the wrong section making lots of noise certain people can take offense.

Thanks!

Could you give a few more details (if you don't mind, of course)? What are the row and seat numbers?

Naturally the Giants get a better Koshien turnout than other teams, but even so, all visiting teams' fans have a smaller presence than before.

Usually the bottom half of the left field is all Tigers fans. Unfortunately, the upper section is usuall all Giants fans.

My seats are in row 43, seats 97 & 98. I know they are in the upper left section, which is designated as the Giants' section.

I was just wondering if indeed the upper section will be all Giants' fans, but it looks to be that way. Is it going to be "uncomfortable" for my friend and I in that section, or should we keep a low profile?

Keep a low profile. Though you're in greater danger being a Kyojin fan in the Hanshin section at Koshien, the opposite may be dangerous as well. Koshien is well known for it's, uh, rowdy crowds, to say the least.

How did you end up with those tickets?

A discount ticket shop in Namba had a pair for 4,400 yen. Only about 1,000 more total than listing price, so I thought it was a good deal.

Certainly was a good deal. When you think about it, the chances of ending up with seats in that area are pretty slim - and especially so when you bought 'em in the heart of Tigers country.

Anyway, I'm jealous: I was offered a ticket for that game and had to turn it down because of a prior engagement!
I've been to similar place in 4/24 game.

Hi.

I went to Koshien with my Tigers loving friend on April 24, similar place, upper left field stands. Most people around me was Tiger fans, with some Giants fan sparsed around.

If you are too uncomofortable with your seating, try asking other Giant fans for a ticket exchange. They, too, may be in a discomforting enviroment, so arrangements might work out.

I plan to see a ticket shop about May 23, but hopes are slim.

Thanks for all the responses, everyone. I personally am fine no matter where I am sitting, as long as I am in the stadium. I was just curious as to how the environment will be. It sounds as if it will be fine. Let's go Tigers!

Yeah, I agree! Let's go Tigers!

BTW, I think you should stay home. Those Hanshin games get off the wall sometimes.
