This is a site about Pro Yakyu (Japanese Baseball), not about who the next player to go over to MLB is. It's a community of Pro Yakyu fans who have come together to share their knowledge and opinions with the world. It's a place to follow teams and individuals playing baseball in Japan (and Asia), and to learn about Japanese (and Asian) culture through baseball.
It is my sincere hope that once you learn a bit about what we're about here that you will join the community of contributors.

Well, Nikkan Sports today (July 30, 2009) reports that the three games at Kyocera Dome with Orix hosting Lotte will sport "Feudal Era" names for the Buffaloes' foreign players on the scoreboard. Names will be:
- Rhodes: 狼主
- Alex (Cabrera): 亜力士
- (Jose) Mayo (Fernandez): 摩夜
- LaRocca: 羅六華
- Vogelsong: 防具流尊
- Lester: 礼星
Hold on with that last one! They're using ei-yomi (as opposed to on-yomi or kun-yomi), kind of like how I use 西湾 for my own official hanko.Nonetheless, they've got a good poster for the event as well on the Buffafloes' official site, depicting the foreigners as a band of samurai.
