This is a site about Pro Yakyu (Japanese Baseball), not about who the next player to go over to MLB is. It's a community of Pro Yakyu fans who have come together to share their knowledge and opinions with the world. It's a place to follow teams and individuals playing baseball in Japan (and Asia), and to learn about Japanese (and Asian) culture through baseball.
It is my sincere hope that once you learn a bit about what we're about here that you will join the community of contributors.

I'm a gaijin in Hanshin (well Nagao to be exact) here with my wife and kids. Got sucked into watching baseball because it is about the only thing I can understand. And oh my sweet, sweet local team, the Tigers.... Maybe I love them because my father-in-law is such a big Giants' fan. Even our local market is rubbing it in by turning every product package into a Tigers' collectable (from bread to lighters). Their phenomenal season = big yen.
But even "shino rodo" doesn't explain their sudden inability to win. If one watches sumo and K1 here long enough, certain matches (cough * Bob Sapp) seem fixed. But baseball? Say it's not so! Why do I wonder? Because I've never seen any team dominate their opponents like the Tigers had been doing all season and then (following their decent game 2 All Star showing) tank to even the last place team. Even when they win now, it's not in the dramatic form of the past. Wasn't there an article just recently (coincidentally just before they started losing steam) about their high scores and whispers about a possible fix? Anyone know if this is a likely scenario (either to slow down the season and let the Giants catch up or to explain their lopsided first half)?
