Size of Japanese Baseball Fields?

Size of Japanese Baseball Fields?
I read somewhere that the baseball fields in Japan are all the same size. Is that true? And what sizes are they?

Ironically, most dimensions are the same. As it's 100 meters (about 328 feet) in the corners (left and right) and 122 meters (about 400 feet) to center in most parks. Meiji Jingu Stadium however is very short from left-center-right (91m, 120m, 91m - 299', 394', 299').

The Team Info page over at Japan Baseball Daily gives you all dimensions of the ballparks in Japan. Also this page gives a lot of insight in to the ballpark dimensions.

- I read somewhere ...

That's a good start. Continue reading - specifically, on this site - and you'll find that your question has already been asked and answered.

I'm putting together a comprehensive stadium table on Google Docs. I haven't had time to enter dimensions yet, but hope to eventually get to that.

If you have the knowledge, time, and desire, write me at my handle at JapaneseBaseball.com along with how you think you can help and I'll add you to the editor's list. Please note, primary sources will all be in meters, not feet. Sources like those linked to above have the lengths in feet, but converting back to meters I get rounding errors. If feet measurements are desired, I'll add some fields and formulas.

I don't know if you would consider adding this to your tables (I realize you're probably changing things as you go), but I would like to see the capacities of those stadiums you have listed.

Just a thought for what it's worth.

That's a very good idea. This is why I like the collaborative nature of the Internet. Others can think up uses that I hadn't thought of.

Anyway, I've populated the attendance column with the max attendances for each stadium in 2006 (as I had already gathered such data in this report [PDF file].

By the way, there are some things about the table that I don't like, and I'm sure that others will comment on, too. I add a new record when a stadium name is changed, so many of these stadiums are the same (dimensions and structurally), but with a different name tacked on in front. This table was designed back in 1995, so please forgive my lack of forethought to the need for aliases. I do hope to revise this system some day.
