Pacific League Use of the DH?

Discussion in the Ask the Commish forum
Pacific League Use of the DH?
I've read everything I can get a hold of on Japanese baseball, but I don't know when the PL started using the DH. Did they copy-cat the American League shortly after it came into vogue in 1973?

My buddies who I have talked to about my discoveries about NPB think it is hysterical that Japan has one DH league and another non-DH league, just like the good old USA. We also get a kick out of seeing that the Carp has a mascot similar to our Phillies Phanatic. Rock on, Slyly!

If I am not mistaken, the Pacific League started using the DH in 1975.

BTW, on a related note, are there any other pro leagues besides the NL in the majors and the CL in Japan that do not use the DH?
