Koshien winner
Which team won the 2001 Summer high school tournement?
It was'nt PL Gakuen; they were too busy fixing their broken chairs and bats.
Any youngsters emerge as top draft choices and any considering a direct route to the US?
Thnaks!

I'm afraid that I don't pay so much attention to the high school tournament personally, and have a real hard time with the school names. If you can read Japanese, Asahi's Koshien 2001 site has all of the information you'll want.

As for hot prospects, Terahara, from Miyazaki's Hinan Gakuen (I think) is #1 on 10 ball club lists for this year's draft. Furthermore, it was announced yesterday (9/6) that he'll be representing Japan in Japan's opening game of the IBAF World Cup in Taiwan on November 7th against the Philippines. He'll be the first high school representative since Ono (now with the Giants) threw in the 1994 Asia Games in Hiroshima.

It should also be noted that this is the first year that pros are allowed to play in what has been the amateur cup competition for 33 years.
About

This is a site about Pro Yakyu (Japanese Baseball), not about who the next player to go over to MLB is. It's a community of Pro Yakyu fans who have come together to share their knowledge and opinions with the world. It's a place to follow teams and individuals playing baseball in Japan (and Asia), and to learn about Japanese (and Asian) culture through baseball.

It is my sincere hope that once you learn a bit about what we're about here that you will join the community of contributors.
