Saburo in Katakana?
I'm just curious as to why Marine's Saburo has his name written katakana. Is there a reason or is it just his preference?

The most famous one was Ichiro, he started the trend in a big way. When Shinjo returned from the States, he decided to register his name as "SHINJO" (or was it "SHINJYO"?) in romaji.
Aussie catcher David Nilsson chose "Dingo" as his baseball name. Players are free to choose "stage names" for NPB purposes.
