Keisuke Kano was on the road to oblivion and a few swings of his bat changed that. Though just 24 years old, Kano appeared doomed to spend his professional existance in the minors. Like so many other Tigers before him, it seemed Kano's only chance for a real career would come if Hanshin tired of him and he were either fired, sold or traded.
