先発の川越が１発に沈んだ。６回まで無失点に抑えたが、１点リードの７回、Ｇ・Ｇ・佐藤に甘い変化球を真ん中に投じて逆転２ランを被弾。その後も連打を許して降板し、チームはこの回一挙５点を奪われて勝敗は決した。「ビッグイニングのきっかけを作ってしまい、悔しい…」。川越は唇をかんだが、コリンズ監督も「あのイニングだけコントロールがよくなかった」とがっかり。再び借金生活に逆戻りした。
