ヤクルト石川が、今月だけで２度目の完封勝利を挙げた。昨年まで５年連続２ケタ勝利ながら、完封はプロで１度もなかっただけに価値がある。散発４安打で三塁を踏ませず「今年自分が迷惑を掛けて監督がやめることになってしまった。少しでも成長した姿を見せたかった」。育ててくれた古田兼任監督への感謝と、責任を果たせなかった先発ローテ投手としての意地を込めた４勝目だった。
