西武西口が通算１０度目の２ケタ勝利を逃した。打球が左足を直撃した４回に１点を失い、右手人さし指のつめが割れたため５回で降板。９勝１１敗で２年続けて２ケタに届かず、１３年目で初の負け越しとなった。「勝って終わりたいというのはあった。これでまた来シーズンの目標ができました」。チームは完封負けで４位楽天と２ゲーム差。２日にも球団初の５位が確定するが、伊東監督は２日続けて「何もない」と言い残してバスに乗り込んだ。
