「また会いましょう」。ヤクルト古田敦也兼任監督（４２）が７日、神宮の夜空を舞い、ファンに復帰を約束して球場を去った。今季の神宮最終戦となった広島戦に「５番・捕手」で４月１９日横浜戦以来、今季３度目の先発出場。４打数無安打も最後までマスクをかぶり、両親や夫人、３万３０２７人のファンに最後の勇姿をみせた。引退試合後、セレモニーで感謝の言葉を述べ、再会を約束。ナインの手でホームベース上で胴上げされた。
