中田にとって、集大成の１２４球目だった。２点リードの８回１死一、二塁、打席には２回に先制ソロを浴びた二岡。カウント２－２から外角低めに１４５キロ直球。スイングさえも許さない１球で１１個目の三振を奪った。「苦しい投球だったけど、最後はしっかり出し切ろうという気持ちだった。直球に自信を持って投げた」。両拳を握り締めて投げた勢いのまま半回転。右腕をたたきつけるようなガッツポーズで「ヨッシャ」とほえた。
