Tadahito Iguchi

Discussion in the Nichi-Bei forum
Tadahito Iguchi
Anyone else not surprised at all about his success? I've been watching him as much as possible, and he's such an unselfish player for the White Sox. He tries to put the ball through the holes every time, and his patience is great. I love how I haven't even seen him try to hit it out of the park once, since he believes a #2 batter should get on base as much as possible. He's adjusted to the majors so well. He's almost like the polar opposite of Kazuo Matsui.

I'm a little suprised that he has had so much success so early. I expected he would need some time to adjust to new pitchers and a new league. It's smart to not try and hit home runs while he's still learning the new pitchers (maybe that's Nori's problem). His manager likes speed and small ball, so he is probably doing exactly what Ozzie Guillen wants him to do.

He is doing very well. Pitchers may figure him out with more scouting, but he is a pro and should be able to adjust.

Maybe he can give some advice to Kazuo. Iguchi is a bargain in comparison.

I love to watch that guy, he's fun.

I posted in the Nakamura thread about Nakamura's tendency to "step in the bucket" and pull off the ball. I noticed Iguchi does this same thing. But Iguchi seems to "stay back" a little longer and can drive the outside pitch to right field.
