Taguchi Starting in Left Field

Discussion in the Nichi-Bei forum
Taguchi Starting in Left Field
Seems like So Taguchi's going to be the second Japanese player to have a starting position on a World Series lineup (if I recall correctly, Shinjo actually never started when he was with the Giants). This may be surprising to most of the professional writers at MLB.com, who never even mentioned Taguchi's name as a possible starter. I had predicted (to myself) that the best move would be play Taguchi in the outfield and move Sanders to the DH position, which is exactly what happened. Taguchi provides the Cardinals with above average defense in left field, and a lot of options down in the order as he is capable of bunting, running, and executing the hit-and-run.

I was very impressed by Taguchi last night. He played the infamous Green Monster almost to perfection and also drove in a run. The results were against his team, but he did very well.
