The President Lions have signed 37 year old right handed pitcher Lou Pote. In 2007 Pote was 8-8 with 7 saves and a 4.00 ERA in 42 games split between the Edmonton Cracker-Cats (then affiliated with the independent Northern League) and the Camden Riversharks of the independent Atlantic League.

Pote has pitched five seasons in the Major Leagues and in 2003 pitched for the Hanshin Tigers.

The Lions also signed 31 year old lefty Brian Adams. In 2007 Adams led the Atlantic League with 15 wins (against 2 losses) as a member of the Somerset Patriots. He posted a 3.68 ERA in 26 games.

The Makoto Cobras have signed 28 year old third baseman Napolean Calzado. In 2007 Calzado split time with the Pensacola Pelicans of the independent American Assocation and the New Jersey Jackals of the independent Can-Am League. He batted a combined .323 with 8 HRs and 43 RBIs in 53 games.

In addition to Calzado, the Cobras also boosted their lineup by adding IF Alex Nunez. The 27 year old split last season between the Brockton Rox (Can-Am League), Hagerstown Suns (A South Atlantic League) and the Potomac Nationsl (High A Carolina League). Nunez batted a combined .266 with 7 HRs and 41 RBIs in 99 games.

This is a site about Pro Yakyu (Japanese Baseball), not about who the next player to go over to MLB is. It's a community of Pro Yakyu fans who have come together to share their knowledge and opinions with the world. It's a place to follow teams and individuals playing baseball in Japan (and Asia), and to learn about Japanese (and Asian) culture through baseball.

It is my sincere hope that once you learn a bit about what we're about here that you will join the community of contributors.
