2004-5 Free Agents
Does anybody know which players will be free agents after the current season? And, which are candidates to jump to North America?

Also, with talk of teams merging, what impact might that have on retaining top talent in Japan?

The stock answer here is that we wait until the season is over to figure such things out. Players could sign deals during the season, get hurt, and so forth, which would effect the answer. And then this year, the merger issue may dramatically increase the pool of free agents - but until the situation plays out. It is almost impossible to know at this time.
