Where do released players go?

Where do released players go?
There is no option to sign free agents in pennant race that I can find, so what happens to a player when I release them, or, if other teams are releasing them?

To the graveyard. They did not add in using free players in pennant mode. Hopefully they will do this in the next installment.

Wow, that is too bad...especially if you start playing more than one season. Was this in previous versions of the game and they just took it out? If so, here is hoping they put it back in for PYS6!
