They Want to Play, but...
The Hiroshima Carp move into third place tonight (6/28) with Chunichi's loss to the BayStars in Seindai. While they'd like to move up in the standings via their own power, tsuyu (the rainy season) has been keeping them off the field.

Normally about this time in the season, the Carp start deep sea diving in the standings. But everyone is playing pretty well this season. Lopez' return has really sparked the team's offense. Tatsukawa-kantoku commented after yesterday's (6/27) announced rain out that the team has only played four games in the past 10 days. Today's rain out makes that 11 days.

Oh, and speaking of Lopez, he's riding an 8 game RBI streak. The Japan record is held by super star Bass (Hanshin) at 13 games. Lopez commented that he'll "try my best" to break the record. With Kanemoto batting third and Maeda batting fifth surrounding #4 Lopez, Nishida-batting coach says that the Carp's "zig-zag offense" is now perfected.

If only the rain would stop long enough to play.

About

This is a site about Pro Yakyu (Japanese Baseball), not about who the next player to go over to MLB is. It's a community of Pro Yakyu fans who have come together to share their knowledge and opinions with the world. It's a place to follow teams and individuals playing baseball in Japan (and Asia), and to learn about Japanese (and Asian) culture through baseball.

It is my sincere hope that once you learn a bit about what we're about here that you will join the community of contributors.
