3 More Batters
Matsuzaka came three batters short of throwing a no-no against the Nippon Ham Fighters on Friday (6/30) night. In the bottom of the 9th, lead off batter Kataoka ripped a base hit to center for the Big Bang's first hit of the game. One out later, Shimada ripped a double to right. Kataoka tried to score from first, but was touched out at the plate. Ide struck out for he final out of the game.

It was just a couple of weeks since Elvira threw a no-no, and here super-monster Matsuzaka comes three outs from one.

Matsuzaka's pitch count was actually lower than Nippon Ham's starter Shimizu's, throwing a very low (for him) 117 pitches compared to 146. Shimizu only surrendered one run in the first inning, that being the difference in the game.

About

This is a site about Pro Yakyu (Japanese Baseball), not about who the next player to go over to MLB is. It's a community of Pro Yakyu fans who have come together to share their knowledge and opinions with the world. It's a place to follow teams and individuals playing baseball in Japan (and Asia), and to learn about Japanese (and Asian) culture through baseball.

It is my sincere hope that once you learn a bit about what we're about here that you will join the community of contributors.
