Lions & Giants

Lions & Giants
Noticing that both the Lions and Giants have established Magic Numbers this early, I looked up some history:

Since 1981, there have been 4 years in which neither the Lions nor the Giants did NOT win the pennant: 1984 (Carp-Braves (currently Blue Wave)), 1994 (Swallows-Blue Wave), 1999 (Dragons-Hawks), and 2001 (Buffaloes-Swallows). That's 17 out of 21 in which either of those teams made an appearance.

The Giants have won 8 CL pennants since 1981, and the Lions have won 13 pennants, but the two have only played each other 4 times (1983, 1987, 1990, 1994).

Only in 1984 and 2001 was the Japan Series completely out of the Kantou region (which actaully makes me wonder about ratings, since TV in general is very Tokyo heavy).

Just some random numbers and junk to throw out to you guys.

(Thanks to Latham-san's site for the Japan Series info.)
About

This is a site about Pro Yakyu (Japanese Baseball), not about who the next player to go over to MLB is. It's a community of Pro Yakyu fans who have come together to share their knowledge and opinions with the world. It's a place to follow teams and individuals playing baseball in Japan (and Asia), and to learn about Japanese (and Asian) culture through baseball.

It is my sincere hope that once you learn a bit about what we're about here that you will join the community of contributors.
