This is a site about Pro Yakyu (Japanese Baseball), not about who the next player to go over to MLB is. It's a community of Pro Yakyu fans who have come together to share their knowledge and opinions with the world. It's a place to follow teams and individuals playing baseball in Japan (and Asia), and to learn about Japanese (and Asian) culture through baseball.
It is my sincere hope that once you learn a bit about what we're about here that you will join the community of contributors.

This is the first time Furuta has been deactivated for a strain, but he said he believed the injury was serious enough to warrant taking time off. He said: "It's in a really bad state, but if I take a care-free attitude the season will be over for me."
Furuta suggested that he might still be able to return later this season. Furuta is 40 years old, coming to the end of his 2 year contract. He says he appears ready to play next year. "I may have recieved some offers (to become manager) and I know if I call it quits I can't be a help to the team. But I can still play."
Furuta is batting .256 with 5 HRs and 30 RBI this year. [Yakult 2005 Stats - Borisov's Pro Yakyu]
